Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose Tiger Trail College Consulting?
At Tiger Trail College Consulting, our approach to building a theme in college applications goes beyond conventional methods. While many advising programs suggest finding a single "passion" or special interest, we focus on uncovering authentic threads that resonate with each student's core personality, ensuring that their applications truly represent who they are. A theme, as we define it, goes beyond a typical passion. While it may include a “spike”—a focused area of expertise or interest— it also draws on a student’s unique qualities and life approach. It weaves together their skills and personality, moving beyond any formulaic representation of their interests.
Our process helps students build applications that don’t simply “fit a mold” but instead reflect their genuine selves, making them memorable in the eyes of admissions committees. This unique approach specific to our program allows students to move beyond a resume of activities and instead present a cohesive story that highlights their character, dedication, and potential impact on a college community. At Tiger Trail, we combine our skills in college consulting with firsthand experience to help students stand out in their applications. To put it simply, we show admissions committees the personality behind the student.
When should I start working with a college consultant?
Ideally, students should begin working with us by their junior year of high school. However, we can provide valuable assistance at any stage of the application process. We also encourage enrolling underclassmen to enter our program so that we can recommend specific extracurricular opportunities and begin to craft the themes of a student's application.
What are the most important parts of a college application?
While all components matter, the most crucial elements are your academic record, standardized test scores, personal essays, and extracurricular activities. We help you optimize each aspect to create a compelling application.
